The International Journal of Victimology and Restorative Justice presents its special issue dedicated to women’s rights, reinforcing its commitment to the promotion of gender equality and protection against all forms of violence. This volume brings together original articles that address central themes for understanding and advancing women’s rights in the contemporary context.

Among the highlights are studies on domestic and family violence, femicide, moral and sexual harassment, as well as analyses of the application of restorative justice in cases involving women victims of violence. The issue also discusses public policies aimed at preventing gender-based violence, protection mechanisms established in national and international legislation, and the challenges of ensuring the effective implementation of the Maria da Penha Law.

Another relevant aspect is the intersectional approach, which considers how race, class, age, and other vulnerabilities impact the experiences of women victims. The articles offer reflections on the importance of human rights education, strategies for women’s empowerment, and the role of institutions in promoting a culture of peace.

The thematic diversity and scientific rigor of this special issue reaffirm the need for comprehensive protection of women’s rights, contributing to the maturation of policies to combat violence and to the construction of a more just and equal society.
