This is a literature review designed to recognize, from a critical-scientific and normative perspective, the applicability of restorative procedures in situations of domestic and familial violence against women. The construction of the state of knowledge on the topic made it possible to observe the increasing use of Restorative Justice in the handling of conflicts arising from gender violence in recent decades. In this scenario, some practical limits were outlined in the self-composition procedures, in the development of victim-offender mediations, and in family conferences, while peace-building circles with groups of men who committed violence and women who suffered violations proved to be contributory to the deconstruction of the culture of violence, as well as to the strengthening of those who are seen as victims. However, it is concluded that such practices need to be guided by guidelines that consider the gender perspective and the humane treatment of women in order to fulfill their purpose in a protective manner.
