Abstract

This article addresses the psychological influence of scars on victims of aggression, examining the factors that affect how they are perceived and integrated into identity. Healing is a complex process involving multiple stages, and the aesthetic outcome of scars can vary depending on factors such as the type of wound and proper care during the healing process. The presence of scars caused by aggression is correlated with psychological traumas that affect self-esteem, body image, and emotional well-being of the victims. Additionally, scars can lead to social stigmatization, isolation, and difficulties in personal and professional relationships.

It is the responsibility of the plastic surgeon who is going to conduct the treatment to do the proper assessment and offer the best available treatment options to improve the aesthetic appearance and psychological well-being of the victims. By gaining a better understanding of the psychological repercussions of scars, healthcare professionals can provide more effective support and help victims cope with the physical and emotional aspects of scars resulting from aggression.
