Abstract

Violence against women is often described as an increasingly phenomenon
worldwide with enormous impact on the life of victims, their families and society. In
this brief study we will focus on a dogmatic analysis of the new offense of
psychological violence against women of article 147-B of the Brazilian Penal Code,
first, trying to address the many complexities that condition the penal response. We will
start from the conceptual difficulty of delimiting psychological violence through an
analysis of examples, types and causes, in order to analyse the objective and subjective
elements of the criminal offence of psychological violence against women introduced in
article 147-B of the Brazilian Penal Code. We will also address procedural issues
applicable to this offense.
