This article analyzes vicarious violence against domestic animals as a deliberate mechanism of relational domination within the scope of domestic and family violence. The abuser instrumentalizes the suffering of companion animals to inflict psychological pain, moral manipulation, and coercive control over women. The methodology adopts a comparative dogmatic analysis between the legal systems of Spain and Brazil, combined with the scientific principles of Forensic Veterinary Medicine. Spain stands out for the civil de-patrimonialization of animals through Ley 17/2021 and the integration of animal welfare into gender-based violence frameworks. Brazil has advanced substantially with Law No. 15.384/2026, which posited vicarious violence, and Law No. 15.392/2026, which prohibited shared custody of pets in scenarios of intrafamily risk. It is concluded that the robust characterization of this violence and the consequent protection of victims depend on overcoming analytical fragmentation and implementing integrated veterinary forensic protocols into the criminal justice system, providing indispensable technical support for prosecutors and the judiciary.
