This scientific article explores the application of Victimology to the phenomenon of systemic rape in armed conflicts, with a particular focus on women. It analyzes the conceptual evolution of rape, from being viewed as an inevitable consequence of war to its recognition as a deliberate weapon of war, as exemplified by the Bosnian genocide. Furthermore, the paper details the multiple layers of victimization that survivors have endured and continue to face due to the lasting scars of the crime and a pervasive lack of accountability. These layers include profound psychological impacts, social stigma, and revictimization by the justice system.
