Violence and masculinities: the trial of the Mazan rapes

This article is based on the hearings and debates organized around the Mazan trial, which shook France in the last quarter of 2024 and had numerous international repercussions.
It judged men who raped a woman at the request of her (ex) husband while he had sedated her.
The author, who has international expertise in terms of violence against women, followed the hearings and debates around this extreme situation and chose to share her analysis related to female vulnerabilities.
The trial was held in Avignon from September to December 2024 to judge these men for rapes that occurred between 2011 and 2020.
