This paper aims to analyze the possibility of applying Restorative Justice to crimes committed within the context of domestic violence. Given the high incidence of cases in Brazil, the challenges are evident, both in terms of punishment and in the formulation of public policies that prevent the aggressor from reoffending and guarantee the protection and preservation of the victim, avoiding revictimization. Since the enactment of the Maria da Penha Law and international treaties, such as the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Inter-American Convention on the Prevention, Punishment and Eradication of Violence against Women, the need for alternatives to the punitive system currently in force in the country has become evident.
