Vicarious violence is a growing phenomenon, characterized by violence directed at individuals close to the primary target, such as children, family members, or partners, with the aim of causing indirect harm. The concept, often associated with contexts of domestic and family abuse, presents complex dimensions that encompass psychological, social, and legal aspects. This article aims to discuss vicarious violence from a legal perspective, based on Brazilian legal norms, addressing its mechanisms, legal implications, and ways of coping with it. To this end, the current legislation, doctrine, and case law on the subject will be analyzed.
