Victimology research, referring to domestic and family violence against women, has been carried out in Brazil, mainly since 2005. Their results are very relevant, because by listening to the victim, it is possible to better understand the different biases that this phenomenon has, which contributes, among other things, to better elaboration of public policies and more effective action by the justice system and protection networks. Knowing the women's attitude towards violence and, on the other hand, the reason that many of them remained inert in the face of the violence they experienced are some of the countless questions whose answers were brought by the victims. Research also demonstrates that there is a difference between experienced and perceived violence, signaling the existence of violence that, because it is so naturalized, ends up being made invisible. The lack of awareness about what constitutes domestic violence leads women to stop seeking protection networks or accessing the courts in search of protection and assistance actions that can contribute to the cessation of ongoing violence and/or its prevention. repetition, further accentuating the process of vulnerability of the victim woman.
